Universal Studios

by on November 11, 2011

Welcome to my adventure at Universal Studios!  I really like this park and hadn’t been in years.  I heard that they have a “fright night” where the whole park is transformed with ghouls and goblins to make your skin crawl and in case you haven’t figured it out already…… I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So I got a ticket to go in during the day and then come back at night for the fun.  In true Foxy fashion I arrived all kinds of late so I only got to run around the park for a few hours before they closed down to wake the dead.  I thought some of you would get a kick out of seeing the Hollywood sets and such.  That really is the fun part of Universal Studios.  You get to go through old sets used in moves and live sets (one of which was filming while I was there!)  Ok so here we go…..

This is the tram that takes you to Universal’s back lot where “the magic happens”.

First stop is the studios, these are the real studios the use to film all sorts of TV shows.  I wasn’t lucky enough to see someone famous strolling around but occasionally on this tour you do 😉

These are the offices that the writers, producers, directors do there day to day thing at.  The parking places are all reserved for people who I’m sure if I knew more about who’s who I would recognize.

The next few photos or of the “town square” it’s been used in all kinds of movies.

I was on the wrong side of the tram 🙁 to get a good pic but that is the clock tower that Marty Mcfly used to try and power the Delorean in Back to the Future.

This area is set for a new movie they are filming.

King Kong has been redone to a 3-d ride and it starts with use being driven into a dark tunnel…..

This was the last group’s tram?!!! Oh no!!!!!!!

When the lights come on there are movie screens on either side of the tram and with your 3-D glasses on it looks like dinosaurs are attacking each other right outside the tram!!!  Then they see us!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

King Kong shows up and jumps on the tram, the whole thing starts jerking back and forth and I’m pretty sure we are goners!

Oh thank the lord the driver got the tram working and drove us right out of that crazy jungle tunnel 😉  awaiting our return was a peaceful dear… he is real actually. There was three of them just hanging out, deer in la? I didn’t know they existed.

Cars used in some movies you may know.

The cage from Jurassic park, hey we needed that in the tunnel!

 Watch out!  Spitting dinos!

This is what a lot of the sets look like with a false front and no back.  Even the town square you saw earlier had no back, it’s all fake.

On the set of Desperate House Wives.  We are driving down Wisteria Lane and filming is in progress.  Shhhhhhhhhhhhh

Nice car 😉 I wonder if THAT’S real?

The actual set of Psycho.  The Bates motel, up on the hill to the left you can see the real Bates mansion.  I thought it was so cool to see the set because I’m a big Psycho fan, but I had no idea what the night had in store for me……

This is a set of a movie where a plane crashes into a suburban town.

After the tram my daylight universal time was over and it was time to leave the park for an hour and let them call out the creeps.  So I when to have a little sushi…

 And sake…. 😉

The best is yet to come when I reenter the park after dark, Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper have their own mazes they created.  I can’t wait to show you!!
